Winter Winner
Winter Winner is a seasonal online scratchcard game that gives you a chance of winning up to £60,000. The game, which can be played at the National Lottery web site, costs £2, and your overall odds of winning any prize at all are 1 in 4.84. As you would expect, Winter Winner has a wonderfully chilly theme, so if you like the idea of playing a game that is packed with snowmen, snowflakes and festive symbols, Winter Winner ticks all the right boxes. Even better, it actually gives you two games in one!
The game card features an outdoor backdrop, with a snowman swaying in the winter breeze. We have never seen a snowman swaying without toppling over before, but the idea adds a nice element of movement to the game, and the sound of the wind blowing in the background somehow helps to make it a tad more realistic.
Game 1 is located on the left hand side of the card, where you will see four scratch strips. Each strip contains two symbol panels and a Prize panel. Scratch the two symbol panels and if you reveal two matching symbols then you will win whatever prize amount is hidden under the Prize panel.
Game 2 is on the right hand side of the card. It takes the form of a nine panel scratch grid (in the traditional 3 by 3 arrangement) and each vertical, horizontal and diagonal line is associated with different prize amount. Scratch all of the nine panels and if you reveal three snowmen in a line then you win the prize associated with that line.
Because Winter Winner is actually two games in one it is perfectly possible to win more than one prize. You can in fact win up to seven prizes in a single game – one for each of the scratch strips in Game 1 and one for each of three lines in Game 2. Most players would be quite happy to win just one prize (especially if it happened to be the £60,000 jackpot!) but the chance to win seven is one that all fans of online scratchcards will welcome.
Our only criticism of Winter Winner is that you have to scratch all of the panels manually – there is no Reveal All button to speed things up. However, that is a very minor quibble and, since the majority of players will be quite happy to scratch the panels themselves, our overall verdict is that Winter Winner is a game that definitely lives up to its name!
