When you launch the game your alien character will be located at the bottom right of the screen. At the bottom left of the screen is your destination – a flying saucer craft that just happens to be worth 25,000 times your stake if you manage to reach it. Between the alien and the saucer are 48 spaces. Your job is to roll a random number from 1 to 6 and the alien will then move that number of spaces. You begin the game with 8 rolls, so if you throw that many 6’s you’ll scoop the jackpot.
Unfortunately the spaces between the alien and the spaceship are not all harmless. Some of them are booby-trapped and will finish off your alien in dramatic fashion. The good news is that some other spaces have multipliers on them. The multipliers increase in value as you progress towards the spaceship, and if your alien meets a sticky end (or any end at all, for that matter) you will still win the last multiplier that you reached successfully.
For example, if you roll several times and pass a x2 multiplier, a x3 multiplier and a x5 multiplier, and then you encounter a booby trap, you would win the x5 multiplier. If you had staked £5 on the game then your prize would be £25.
The sound effects and graphics in Space Evader are very impressive, and make playing the game a hugely entertaining experience quite apart from the cash prizes that you can win. Some games are obviously longer than others (the longer you can avoid the booby traps, the longer the game will be) but if you want to speed things up then there is a Turbo option which causes your alien character to sprint instead of walk.
In short, Space Evader is an excellent game that fans of online scratchcards will want to play again and again. Prizes are spread evenly throughout so that you have a great chance of winning a nice chunk of cash even if the flying saucer – and the x25,000 multiplier that is associated with it – eludes you.
