Rocks to Riches
As regular readers will know, we love a wide variety of online scratchcards and instant win games, but as far as innovation and immersion are concerned, it has to be said that the Rocks to Riches game at the National Lottery site stands apart from all of the games that we have reviewed so far. What’s really special about Rocks to Riches is that it is presented in 3D and features some of the best animation we have ever seen in a scratchcard game.
The game itself is simple enough to play, but quite a challenge to describe, so we will try to give you a good overview of what to expect and we strongly recommend that you try the game for yourself at your earliest opportunity. The Rocks to Riches instant win game shows a miner standing in a cart which has four differently coloured baskets attached to the front of it. Above him is a grid of nine claws arranged in a 3x3 format, the rows of which are referred to as A, B and C and the columns 1, 2 and 3. At the bottom right of the screen are two dials, one for the rows and one for the columns, along with a Spin counter that starts with 6 spins.
The aim of the game is to try and collect three matching jewels in any one of the baskets, or to get three matching jewels in any row or column. You press the Spin button to spin the dials and thereby identify one of the nine claws. The claw selected will open and the jewel in that claw will be dropped. The miner will then catch the jewel and drop it into the appropriate basket according to colour. As for the claws, the empty slot will be replenished, creating a new configuration of jewels in the rows and columns. Sometimes a Mini Game jewel will drop, in which case you will get to play a mini game for a chance to win extra jewels, extra spins or even an instant cash prize.
If you fill a basket with three matching jewels then you win the prize amount associated with that basket. Similarly, if the reconfigured claws create a column or row of three matching jewels then you will win whatever prize is associated with that row or column.
What we can’t convey here is just how impressive Rocks to Riches is from a graphical point of view. The cart appears to be coming straight at the screen as it travels through the mine, and the animation of the miner going about his business is superb.
