Golden Island
Golden Island is a simple and straightforward online scratchcard game that is beautifully presented to give the impression that you are hunting for treasure on the Golden Island referred to in the title. The game can be played at both Scratch2Cash and Hopa, and in both cases the odds of you winning any prize (1 in 3) and the top prize available (£200,000) are identical, so choose whichever site you happen to prefer.

The amount that you bet on each game is set by adjusting the figure in a Card Price panel at the bottom of the screen – click the left hand arrow to reduce the stake or the right hand arrow to increase it. As the figure in the Card Price panel changes, so does the jackpot amount displayed in the Win Up To panel next to it – you can therefore bet according to the size of the jackpot that you want to play for.
The foreground of the Golden Island scratchcard itself shows four treasure chests. One is red in colour and is marked Prize, so this one obviously contains the prize that you are playing for. Two of the other three chests contain sand, and one contains gold. Your job is to click on one of the three chests and find gold. If you can do that then you will win the prize amount contained in the Prize chest.
You can open the Prize chest before one of the other chests if you want to do that, or you can go straight for one of the main chests, in which case the Prize chest will open automatically whether you win or lose. We quite like knowing the amount of money that we are playing for when we enjoy online scratchcards, so we prefer the former option.
We have mentioned what happens in the foreground in the Golden Island game, but we should also say that the backdrop is very well designed, and shows the island beach at sunset. Look closely at what initially appear to be vague clouds and you will see what is in fact a skull – obviously these treasure chests have been left behind by pirates! Background audio effects are just as impressive, and make Golden Island even more atmospheric.
