Esmeralda
The name Esmeralda might make you think of the female lead in The Hunchback of Notre Dame novel by Victor Hugo, but in this online scratchcard game it just happens to be the name of a witch who enjoys flying around on the back of her trusty broomstick. Unfortunately Esmeralda the witch is in pieces (two, to be exact) and your aim in this game, which can be played at the Scratch2Cash site, is to try and put her back together again. The Esmeralda online scratchcard game shows two rows of eight cards, making eight vertical pairs, and your first task is to decide how many pairs you want to play. Each pair of cards counts as a separate game, so playing all eight pairs will cost you eight times your stake. Of course, you can adjust your stake and bet as little as 50p, so playing all eight pairs of cards could cost you as little as £4, and each pair has a 1 in 3 chance of winning you a cash prize.
When you have selected the number of pairs of cards that you want to play and the amount of money that you want to stake on each, press the Play button. All of the cards that you have in play will then be turned over. Cards on the top row display various upper halves of Esmeralda, whilst cards on the lower row display various lower halves of the witch. If the upper card and the lower card in a pair match to form a complete Esmeralda then you will win the cash prize that is shown below that pair.
As we mentioned earlier, playing several pairs of cards at once gives you several chances of winning. For the purposes of preparing this review we played the maximum of eight pairs and we managed to get five winning pairs on a couple of occasions, but we found that getting even one winning pair is quite exciting – especially if the prize amount is something to shout about!
Online scratchcards fans who have a thing about scratching their own panels might find this game to be a bit too automatic for their tastes, because all you have to do is press the Play button and everything else happens without any further input being required.
