Dawn of the Bread
Dawn of the Bread can only be described as a bizarre and fiendishly enjoyable online scratchcard game that lurks in the Scratchcards category at Ladbrokes Casino. If you imagine crossing zombies and all that they stand for with the relative innocence of a traditional bakery, and then basing a scratchcard game on the result, you’ll have a pretty good idea of what Dawn of the Bread is all about.
The main Dawn of the Bread game screen shows a ghoulish green baker stretching a batch of dough beside a traditional open oven (look closely at the dough and you’ll see a spider and an eyeball in there somewhere).
The oven has three shelves, and when you press the NEW CARD button each shelf will hold three gruesome loaves. The aim is to scratch all nine loaves to reveal the items hidden inside. Find three matching items and you win the prize corresponding to that item.
You can scratch the loaves one at a time by clicking on each in turn, or you can simply press the REVEAL ALL button to scratch all of the loaves at once. The objects inside the loaves are fittingly nasty – we’re talking eyeballs, mice, bugs and dentures. The top prize of 10,000 times your stake is won by finding three eyeballs, with three hearts being the next best. Three bugs (we think they’re cockroaches) win the smallest prize, but even then you will double your money, so we have no complaints in the slightest.
Although the Dawn of the Bread scratchcard game sounds quite gruesome, it is presented in a very humorous way, and a lot of attention to detail has gone into it. For example, if you look at the oven you will see flames flickering behind the loaves. And the spider in the web beside the Dawn of the Bread title logo actually crawls around every now and again.
Win a prize and the ghoulish green baker comes to life, cackling and jiggling its head around like something demented. The more you win, the louder and more manic the shrieks seem to be... what happens when the jackpot is won is something you’ll have to discover for yourself!
Overall, Dawn of the Bread is a very innovative game that proves how the standard scratchcards concept can be given a remarkable twist when enough though is put into it. We had a blast playing this game, and we’ll be going back for a second helping of zombie loaves just as soon as we have finished this review.
